Beyond the Work & Powered by Purpose
The Stories from the People Behind NCC & the Purpose They Carry with Them.
An inspiring series by Margaret-Ann Leavitt & Jennie Burness
National Car Charging started with a pretty simple idea: help make the transition to electric transportation easier and, in the process, do something good for the world.
For our founder and most of us, that has always meant more than chargers. It means cleaner air, curbing climate change, stronger communities, better infrastructure and doing work that leaves something meaningful behind for the people who come next.
Then I wrote Jake’s story and realized our work is only part of the story.
What started as a piece about his military service and advocacy for the Major Richard Star Act made me realize how many inspiring stories are sitting right inside our own company.
Stories about family. Loss. Advocacy. Service. Education. Health. Community. The things people have lived through, the causes they care about and the experiences that have shaped who they are.
And once I started asking, I wanted to know more.
Because those stories do not stay neatly outside of work. They show up in how people lead, how they support one another, how they solve problems and how they show up for our customers every day.
That is where Beyond the Work, Powered by Purpose Series was born.
It is simply my way of sharing more of the people behind NCC—not just what they do here, but what matters to them, what has changed them and what they keep choosing to show up for.
Every story is different. But together, I think they say something important about NCC: the work is stronger because of the people doing it, and the people doing it care about things far bigger than themselves.
The more I hear these stories, the more I realize that the purpose behind NCC does not just live in the work. It lives in the people doing it.
I hope you enjoy the journey with me!
